Summer cicadas—

Summer cicadas—
strumming
golden chords
chugging
like the metal trains
above the rooftops
speaking
air into tongues—
The interceding
species prays like
a womb
groaning creation
into freedom—
the unrolling
of a tomb
  1. The Chicago “L” trains – Cicadas got so loud they drowned out the L train as I was walking by one time.
  2. Romans 8:26
