This website presents itself as Henry Del Rosario’s online art portfolio. It is also a blog about art, medicine, and missions.

What’s “unautrecoeur” and “住在爱里面”?

French: “un autre coeur,” translates to “one other heart; another heart.” Chinese: “住在爱里面,” translates into “live in the love inside; abide in love.”

How did you design your site?

I coded much of it with Notepad. Graphics manipulated with Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Indesign, and Lightroom. I code off of strict XHTML, CSS, and HTML standards. The wordpress theme is based off of pinboard which is provided freely by wordpress.

Which kinds of art media do you use?

I use Derwent graphite pencils, Prismacolor (& verithin) colored pencils, Winsor & Newton oils and watercolors, and a 6×8″ Wacom Graphire.

Which cameras do you use?

My photographs were taken with a Holga 120S (or Holga 120CFN) and processed in a dorm basement. Digital photos were captured with a Canon EOS 60D or an iPhone.

What equipment do you use to record music?

I have a 3/4 size Cordoba Cadete classical guitar. I record using Audacity program and the Samson C01U condenser microphone. I dabble with my recorder from second grade, my sister’s practice violin, my brother’s $5 harmonica, a George Steck baby grand, and my casio electric piano thing. My pop filter’s made of nylon stockings and my microphone stand’s styrofoam.

Where are your parents from?

They’re both from the Philippines. My brother, sister, and I are the first family members born in America! Sometimes I like to think my father’s from Galilee.

What’s your favorite sound?

The sound of a tall glass of water being gently laid down on black marble at night with the lights off.

Are you religious?

No, I’m a follower of Jesus Christ.

My ears enjoy listening to: Jeremy Enigk, Arcade Fire, Sufjan Stevens, Explosions in the Sky, Hillsong United.

Which artists inspire you?

Makoto Fujimura, Gianlorenzo Bernini, Yoshiyuki Sadamoto, Dali, Bryan Lee O’Malley, M.C. Escher, Picasso, Auguste Rodin, Yoshitoshi Abe, Edgar Degas, Rene Magritte, and the unknown greek sculptor of the Nike of Samothrace.
